Election Yard Sign Recycling event
Saturday, November 9, 2019
Don’t throw your election yard signs away when they can be recycled. The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) is hosting a free Election Yard Sign Recycling event on Saturday, November 9, from 8am to 11am to help residents and political campaigns keep signs from entering the landfill and from littering roadways.
All paper and plastic signs (including coroplast) and accompanying
metal stands will be accepted free-of-charge from Franklin County residents.
One-hundred percent of the materials accepted during this event are recycled
and nothing will be sent to the landfill.
“This week Franklin County residents have the opportunity
to exercise their right to vote and protect the environment by recycling their
election signs," said SWACO’s Communication Manager Hanna Greer-Brown.
“We're inviting residents to stop by the Bill McDonald Complex on Saturday
morning and drop off any unwanted signs. We'll make sure any signs we receive
are kept out of the landfill and are recycled into new products.”
Every year, Franklin County residents and businesses
landfill over a million tons of material. Fifty percent is comprised of fiber
(like carboard and paper), plastics and metals.
