Worthington City Service crews are prepped and ready to take on snow or ice when the winter weather arrives. Trucks will pre-treat many of the main roads with a liquid brine solution which is applied before the snow falls to help eliminate ice. When plows are on the street, please give the drivers plenty of room to work, keep a safe distance, and use caution when driving. Plow crews focus first on the main streets, primary neighborhood thoroughfares, bridges and hills during the snowfall. Residential streets and cul-de-sacs are plowed after the snow stops falling. If snow continues to fall, crews will plow beyond the curb line to prevent ice and snow from piling up and blocking roads to emergency vehicles. Because plows push snow beyond the side of the roadway, this sometimes creates a necessary but unfortunate consequence - snow pushed into driveways.
