Worthington Police Citizens Academy

The Police Citizens Academy has been cancelled for 2022.

The Worthington Division of Police has been monitoring the COVID-19 situation. Due to the high level of community spread and increased case numbers, the Police Citizens Academy has been cancelled for 2022. We will continue to monitor the situation and update the community if and when the Academy is scheduled in the future. Any existing applicants will be put on a waitlist and notified when the program is able to move forward.

Previous information (Citizens Academy is now on hold)

The Worthington Division of Police invites any Worthington resident or employee within the city to participate in the Worthington Police Citizens Academy. If you do not live or work in Worthington, but still have an interest in law enforcement, we invite you to apply as well!  Participants will see aspects of what it is like to be a law enforcement officer and gather an understanding of the necessary tools and information needed to perform the job. The course is taught by certified sworn officers and provides real-life scenarios requiring split decision-making efforts. Please join us for a fun and educational experience.

The Academy is held at the Worthington Police Department, 6555 Worthington-Galena Road one night a week from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm for a nine-week period of basic police instruction. Proposed dates (now cancelled) are January 19, 26, February 2, 9, 16, 23 and March 2, 9, 16, 2022. There is no cost to the student to attend the academy.
