National EMS Week

Each year in the third week of May is designated as EMS Week in recognition of the value of emergency medical responders and the important work they do in our nation's communities. This annual event began in 1974 during President Gerald Ford's administration.

The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) partners with the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to lead annual EMS Week activities.

In central Ohio, hospitals and other medical facilities will often provide celebratory signage and snacks for Worthington and other EMS providers.

The annual Ohio EMS Conference is also held during EMS Week, and provides both a wealth of continuing education classes and awards recognizing EMS excellence, medical direction, and education.
