Perry Park Playground Replacement
February Update:
We apologize for the delay in getting the Perry Park playground open. We have had issues with a couple of playground parts during installation and getting them replaced with shipping times has taken longer than expected. We have the last of those on hand now and installation is scheduled within the next week. We also recognized as we wrapped up installation a need to deal with a large slope that was left over on the north end of the playground area. We have a contractor working to build a small retaining wall in that area. We also have a new sidewalk planned that will connect the playground to the parking lot. The sidewalk will be completed later but will not hold up the opening.
We are planning to open the playground by the end of February. We apologize for the delays but are excited it is nearing completion.
December Update:
The old playground has been removed and the new equipment and its safety surface are coming along nicely! We are so excited to see the progress of the new Perry Park Playground! Construction has almost been completed and we hope to reopen the playground after a detailed safety inspection.
November Update:
The old playground equipment and its surface has been removed, and our team has been hard at work developing the footprint for the new structures and concrete foundations.
October Update:
The playground renovation is underway and we are on schedule for completion this Winter. The old equipment has been removed and the new equipment will be installed soon. Once completed, the safety surfacing will be installed beginning in November and the full renovation is expected to be completed by year-end pending delays.
September Update:
We have a final design for the playground replacement! After a well-attended public open house in May and a week of receiving comments on the city’s website, we have reviewed all the input and selected option three with a few small modifications. You can see the final design in the illustrations on this page. In addition to the layout pictured, we will also be adding a bike rack and a communication board close by based on feedback we received. An order has been placed for the equipment and it is expected to arrive in time for a Fall/Winter installation. Thank you to everyone who provided input and helped us complete the design process.
