Street Maintenance

Report Potholes
The freezing and thawing on Ohio's pavement causes the asphalt to expand and contract. This movement creates potholes. To report a pothole on a Worthington street, please call the Service Department at 431-2425.

Report Street Lights Out
American Electric Power services all the street lights in Worthington, except the Old Worthington light posts. To report a street light out, please call the Service Department at 431-2425. The Service Department will notify AEP and oversee their work.

Street Cleaning

Street Sweeper The Service Department cleans all streets with curb and gutters several times a year Regular street sweeping keeps the City clean and prevents dirt and debris from going into storm sewers; thereby improving local water quality. The City asks residents to do their part by not putting material in streets. In addition, the City regularly cleans the CBD sidewalks and public parking lots with the "Green Machine".

Traffic Signals
Major thoroughfares have priority light clearance, particularly during high activity periods. During off-peak hours, most main intersections operate on demand. Collector streets that operate against priority main streets are equipped with detection systems that electronically notify the controlling equipment that a vehicle is present and waiting to enter or cross the main thoroughfare.

vehicle detection monitors Some intersections are equipped with electrically lit vehicle detection monitors (identified by a silhouette of a car and driver). These monitors notify drivers that their vehicle is in the proper location to be detected. Areas of detection are placed behind the white "stop bar" so that vehicles observing proper placement can be assured of the timeliest movement available and are identified by signs that say "Stop Here to Activate Detector".

During rush hour periods, waits up to 2 minutes may occur after detection. If your wait exceeds this time, please notify the Service Department at 431-2425.
