Worthington Sustainability Initiative

What does it mean for Worthington to be a Sustainable Community? This question has been the focus of a quarter-long graduate course in City & Regional Planning at the Ohio State University. Since March 2007, the class has investigated the City of Worthington with respect to four main areas:

  1. Land Use and Urban Ecology
  2. Energy and Waste
  3. Transportation and Mobility
  4. Economic Development and Social Equity

In the course of the investigations, the students have explored those elements considered important for a community to be sustainable in general. They have also investigated aspects of Worthington's history, policy, practices, and future plans in these areas.

The class provided the community with an overview of their findings at a meeting on June 7, 2007. Click on the link below to download a PDF version of their report. A hard copy is available for public inspection at the Worthington Municipal Building, 6550 N. High Street.
