Worthington Independence Day Celebration

An Independence Day family tradition!

 Friday, July 4th

Worthington Family Picnic

Fireworks

 6:00 p.m.

10:00 p.m.

Worthington Family Picnic

Gather the family and come on down to the Worthington Family Picnic and Fireworks Celebration for a fabulous Independence Day party to be remembered. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a family picnic on the lawn of Thomas Worthington High School with musical entertainment beginning at 6:00 p.m. The grill will be hot and food will be available for purchase. Super Games inflatable games will also be on site for kids of all ages to enjoy. The Worthington Family Picnic is a partnership between Leadership Worthington and the City of Worthington.

Fireworks

After the Worthington Family Picnic, make your way over to the TWHS football stadium for the annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration beginning at 10:00 p.m.

At 9:25 p.m. all military veterans in attendance are invited to join in the giant color guard to present the flag. Veterans are asked to gather on the track at the north end of the stadium. They will walk together to the sound end of the field for the flag raising ceremony. The fireworks are scheduled to blast off at 10:00 p.m.

Parking

Parking throughout the day will be available at the TWHS parking lot to the west and north of the building, although it may fill up prior to the start of the fireworks so it is a good idea to come early, park outside of the high school neighborhood area or walk. To maintain access for emergency vehicles and facilitate traffic movement it will be necessary to post certain streets “No Parking" on July 4, 2008. Parking restrictions will be lifted following the event. The areas to be posted "No Parking" are:

  • Medick Way – both sides
  • Tucker Dr. - north side only
  • Tucker N.W. - both sides
  • Farrington Dr. - north side only
  • Seabury Dr. - west side only
  • Sinsbury Dr. N. - north side only
  • Blanford Dr. - north side only
  • Sanbridge Circle - north side only
  • W. New England Ave. – both sides west of Oxford St.
  • Evening St. – both sides from W. New England Ave. to Rt. 161
  • Granville Service Rds. – both sides
  • West Granville Rd. – both sides from Evening St. to the Olentangy River Rd. bridge

The cooperation of area residents is greatly appreciated.
