Work is underway on a new UDF convenience store and gas station at the northeast corner of W. Dublin-Granville Rd. and Linworth Rd. The redevelopment was approved by the Worthington Architectural Review Board in September of 2014. The current UDF store, located in the City of Columbus, has been demolished and will be expanded to include the next door parcel, formerly the FirstMerit Bank, located in the City of Worthington. This was a joint process between the City of Columbus and the City of Worthington in reviewing the site for redevelopment. When completed, the new 4,480 sq.ft. store will include more gas pumps, an ice cream parlor and outdoor patio.
The project also includes the addition of sidewalks on the northeast corner and crosswalk improvements at the intersection. Drivers will access the parking lot from westbound Dublin-Granville Road in a right-in/right-out pattern and from all directions on Linworth Road. The redevelopment is expected to be complete by mid-2017.
In addition, the cities of Worthington and Columbus and Perry Township are all cooperating with the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission and the Ohio Department of Transportation to study and find additional solutions for SR-161 between Olentangy River Road and Sawmill Road, including the 161/Linworth intersection.
